May Concert at Plymouth Church

The final concert of the season once again features splendid artists from Cleveland, for Cleveland. Principal BlueWater Bassoonist George Sakakeeny will perform the exotic “full moon in the city” by American composer Libby Larsen.  The composition tells the story of a stroll through a club district in a large city.  Ken Wadenpfuhl, Principal Horn, continues the street scene theme with Villanelle by Paul Dukas.  Originating from the Neapolitan 16th century street song or a sophisticated parody of a madrigal, the piece is a virtuosic showpiece for horn.  Also on the program is the premiere of a new work by the winner of Iron Composer 2014.  The season ends with the full orchestra performing the brilliant Symphony No. 3 of Franz Schubert.
